Testing out the Prototype
State of the App
The app currently implements a simple workflow:
- User uploads text (e.g., news article) or audio (e.g., .mp3)
- The audio is transcribed the audio into text.
- The user generates a “remix” of the uploaded content.
The “remix” types currently implemented are:
- Report: Generates a news article based on the content, formatted for reading or listening comprehension practice at the learner’s level.
- Conversation: Creates a podcast-style transcript of a natural dialogue between two people discussing the content, tailored to the learner’s level. The idea is that this can be converted to audio to create a “synthetic” podcast episode.
- Tutorial: Produces a Cliffnotes-style study guide with key vocabulary, themes, key figures, comprehension questions, and oral role-play activities. The idea is that this could be used as a primer for a lesson with a tutor.
- Speech Training: Generates pronunciation and fluency practice materials including backchaining exercises, rhythm/flow poems, and call-and-response phrases. The idea is that this could be converted to audio for passive speaking practice, like a Pimsleur lesson.
- Error Analysis: Analyzes learner-produced content to identify errors, provide corrections with explanations, and extract reusable talking points.
